Q: What is developmental screening? A: A developmental screening is a way of checking a child's progress in the areas of speech, language, vision, hearing, thinking, personal-social behavior and motor (movement) development.
Q: Who can be screened? A: Children birth to school age in the counties served by NKESC. Those include: Cheyenne, Decatur, Cove, Graham, Lane, Logan, Rawlins, Sheridan, Sherman, Thomas, Trego, and Wallace.
Q: Who conducts the screening: Is it someone I can trust? A: The screenings are conducted by area professionals such as: school psychologists, speech-language pathologists, registered nurses, and early childhood teachers.
Q: How much does it cost? A: The screenings are offered free of charge thanks to the sponsorship of NKESC and the participating school districts.
Q: Where are the screenings located? A: The screenings are conducted at selected screening sites within the school districts.
