HR Portal Updates

Update from October 10, 2006

February 23, 2007

The following is a memo to all NKESC staff from October 10, 2006:

HR Portal Reminders and Updates

*            Daily Log--When you can not find a daily log you thought you saved, be sure to look in all categories and also the “Start a New Week” box before you call for assistance.

REMINDER-- NON-CERTIFIED STAFF: Remember the Daily Log is your time sheet and is due weekly and complete by the 5th of each month for payroll.

*            Default Week--Starting October 11th there will be a new category under Daily Log.  The new category will be Default Week.  You will only want to use Default Week  if your schedule is the same from day to day and does not change very often.  Directions:  Default Week,  once it is filled out, will automatically fill in every week with the same information, however, you will be able to edit the weekly information if your schedule changes.  Those of you who do NOT want to use Default Week should leave it blank.

*            History--Make sure to always check History and Pending to make sure your requests are approved or rejected.

*            Expense Voucher--The Miles line in the Expense Voucher will now auto-calculate the amount owed as long as there is a number in the Miles box and a zero (0) in the Other Costs box.  (Other Costs is a required field)  You no longer have to figure the amount.

*            Save and Submit--Please remember to Save and Submit when you have your Daily Log completed for the week.  If you have submitted your Daily Log and the screen saying it has moved on for approval did not come up, check to see if it is in the Saved category and submit it again.

*            Flex Time/Comp Time--Flex Time is time earned over your normal daily work hours and preferably should be taken off during the same week it was earned.

Comp Time is time earned over the normal 40 hour work week, must be pre-approved, and must be taken within two pay periods.  It is earned only if you have worked more than 40 hours--leave time within that week does not count as hours worked.

*            Leave Requests--Always submit an appropriate Leave Request when you will be gone, and make sure the leave is reflected and coded properly in your Daily Log once you have taken the leave.

*            Family Medical Leave--Family Medical Leave is strictly for a long-term illness, birth of children, etc., and is governed by strict guidelines.  Please do not use this code until you have talked with Ann Rath.
