2010 Extended School Year Information

The time-line for 2010 Extended School Year is
listed below. It is important to note that while applications for
both certified staff and classified staff will be available on the
web site as of December 18th, certified staff will be hired in
February, while the hiring of classified staff will take place in
April. Due to the early time-line it is perfectly acceptable to
submit an application for ESY even if you are still unsure about
your summer plans. Individuals who want to submit an
application may fill it out online and submit. It is the hope of
NKESC that the early time-line will allow us to provide timely
feedback to staff in regards to available positions and create a
smoother transition into ESY at the end of the regular school year.
An initial meeting of certified staff will take place in
conjunction with the NKESC inservice on February 15th. Verification
of the students requiring ESY services will begin in February. Feel
free to contact me with any questions you might have regarding
Extended School Year services.
TIME-LINE FOR 2010 EXTENDED SCHOOL YEAR
December 18 - Extended School Year applications for employment
available on the NKESC web site
February 8 - Extended School Year Applications due back to Kurt
Brown
February 8 - First draft of the ESY student list will be
compiled
February 10 - Verification of the ESY student list will be
conducted
February 10 - Hiring of ESY certified staff will begin
February 15 - Initial meeting for "CERTIFIED" ESY providers
-after inservice
April 1 - Certified staff have determined schedules, para and
transportation needs
April 22 - Hiring of ESY classified staff will begin
May 3 - All ESY staff is hired and assigned, staff schedules
completed and returned, student list distributed to ESY
staff
May 3 - Final verification of ESY completed
May 1 to May 15 - ONLY EMERGENCY additions and subtractions of
students
